Chem’s Sister, Sour Dubb and Chocolate Diesel. Here are the genetics behind the Gorilla Glue marijuana.
The CBD cannabis strain of Gorilla Glue is one of the legal weed varieties the most appreciated of our online store. It is enchanting even to look at it: the medium-sized buds have a light green colour with orange shades given by the numerous pistils.
Green is made even more subdued by the vast amount of resin present on the buds, which determines the high content of cannabinoids (in particular CBD, which exceeds 22%) and the high compactness of the inflorescences themselves.
Truly particular cannabis! It certainly does not disappoint as regards the aroma, fresh and decisive, and the flavour that recalls citrus. As well as other fruit and also has hints of pine and wood.
Its characteristics derive in particular from its genetics: this variety of CBD flower is, in fact, the excellent result of the cross between 3 different cannabis species: Chem’s Sister, Sour Dubb and Chocolate Diesel.
And to think that his birth was random.
Don’t you know what we’re talking about? Continue to read and find out!
The origins of the Gorilla Glue marijuana: a cannabis strain born by pure luck.
You should know that Gorilla Glue (specifically Gorilla Glue # 4) was born for a lucky mistake. We have to thank Joesy Whales and her friend Mardogg for this incredible strain, one of the most appreciated by marijuana lovers in the world!
Here is a small summary of what happened.
Joesy was growing some plants of Chem Sister and Sour Dubb when a hermaphrodite Chem Sister pollinated the plants of Sour Dubb. The man became furious and decided that he had had enough of growing that cannabis. Terefore, he threw all the plants full of seeds, as they were not suitable for being smoked or consumed in other ways.
He did not know that his good friend Mardogg, who helped him eliminate cultivation, kept some seeds without throwing them away.
The history of the Gorilla Glue begins with Joesy and ends with Mardogg who grows those seeds several years later.
Predictably, from those seeds, numerous plants of unstable genetics were born but also 6 types of stable female plants, which developed entirely. The genetics called “number 4” (# 4) was undoubtedly the best of all, with a great abundance of terpenes and an incredible aroma.
Thus, was born the Gorilla Glue # 4, which brings somewhere not only the genes of Chem Sister and Sour Dubb but also those of Chocolate Diesel.
The complete genetics is, therefore, Chem Sis x Sour Dubb x Chocolate Diesel. We see, in the next paragraph, the characteristics of these strains.
Origins of the Gorilla Glue: Chem’s Sister genetics
Chem’s Sister is a dominant Sativa variant of the classic Chemdawg variety. This variety was born in 1996. Over the course of more than 20 years it has established itself as one of the most energizing varieties known to all marijuana and hashish enthusiasts.
The plant has a slightly droopy stem, but the abundant buds give it a really excellent yield. Even the lower branches contain flowers, and we know that this is not a feature that belongs to all cannabis plants.
Buds are dense, knotty and mint green in colour, with many white pistils that darken with ripening. Very generous coverage of trichomes makes this strain sticky (one of the main characteristics of the Gorilla Glue marijuana) and abundant in THC, which can easily exceed 18%.
Its pungent smell gives off hints of diesel, sweet sandalwood and citrus undertones. The flavour recalls lemon and pine.
Origins of the Gorilla Glue: the Sour Dubb genetics
Sour Dubble marijuana (also known as Sour Dubb) has two different versions:
- One of the two types of Sour Dubble is a cross between Sour Bubble and East Coast Sour Diesel and tends to grow more like a Sativa than an indica.
- The second version is a cross between Sour Diesel and Sour Bubble (which means it’s a cross between Sour Bubble … and one of his parents). The second type has more Indica than Sativa inclination.
Although these are products with different shades, the potency of both is around 17-19% THC; moreover, both have a bittersweet smell with the characteristic hint of jet fuel. The taste is also very similar: slightly fruity and sweet mixed with the burnt diesel flavour.
Origins of the Gorilla Glue: Chocolate Diesel genetics
Chocolate Diesel, a cannabis Sativa strain, takes its name from its perfume and taste that it inherits from its parent strains, namely Sour Diesel and Chocolate Thai.
It emits an intense chocolate smell, leaving a sweet candy aftertaste in the mouth, which can sometimes tend to ammonia. The buds of this strain are made up of deep green and brown leaflets, with purple undertones and long orange pistils.
The average THC levels of this strain are currently shrouded in mystery. However, its effect is known to go directly to the head, generating waves of euphoria and energy.

Chem Sister x Sour Dubble x Chocolate Diesel = Gorilla Glue # 4
The cross between these particular strains of marijuana has given birth to a plant with light green inflorescences, with orange pistils and rich in sticky resin as glue.
The flavour recalls the forest, pine and citrus fruits, and (unlike his original strains) the CBD is present in very high amounts; it can cause severe pain and soothing effects.
